Summary of Team Coastal Cycling E-Bike Policy

Team Coastal Cycling is a traditional road cycling club, and acknowledges that traditional road cyclists now have the option to continue cycling with electric motor assistance while aging or experiencing infirmities that might otherwise curtail their ability to ride. In order to keep the club true to traditional cycling, protect group ride safety, maintain predictable ride dynamics, and ensure compatibility between e-bikes and traditional road bicycles, an e-bike policy has been implemented in 2026.

The policy restricts e-bikes on club rides to traditional style road e-bicycles as follows:

•        Motor power of no more than 250 W continuous
•        Pedal assist only, with no throttle option available
•        Weight limit of no more than 20 kg
•        Published specifications available to present to the ride leader upon request
•     The ride leader’s restrictions for a specific ride are final
